Day 1: Journey into Joules: Exploring Electricity

The camp commenced with an exciting theme – “Journey into Joules: Exploring Electricity.” On this day, participants delved into the captivating world of electrical energy. Through interactive sessions and hands-on experiments, students learned about electrical circuits and controls, the principles of electric currents, and the fascinating phenomenon of electromagnetism. They also discovered the significance of renewable energy sources and their role in creating a sustainable future.

Day 2: A Journey into Automata (The Art Machine)

The second day of the camp took the participants on a “Journey into Automata,” also known as “The Art Machine.” Automata are mechanical devices designed to mimic the actions of living beings. Over the years. Team PSC has facilitated the participation of more than 5000 young scientists in onsite summer camps. In response to the covid-19 pandemic, we successfully executed nine online science camps over the last three years and organized an extremely successful one-week on-site camp at the National Skills University Islamabad with the collaboration of the ECO Science Foundation. 

This year we have decided to expand our summer camps to three major cities: Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. Our camp program aims to nurture the spirit of curiosity and exploration in young individuals, providing them with an immersive learning experience in the fields of electricity, machines, and robotics. 

During the five-day camp, students will have the opportunity to build circuits, understand the principle behind wire remote controllers, delve into the making of automata and create their own walking automata, design and assemble wired robots, participate in exciting robo fights, and engage in a surprise STEAM challenge for families. The program is designed to enhance students’ understanding of STEAM concepts, foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, and instill an appreciation for the art and innovation in these fields.

Which works can participate?

  1. Any individual or organization, domestic or international, can participate in the competition.
  2. Science popularization videos contributed should be original and have never been released publicly.
  3. The science popularization video works should be scientific and informative. No political tendency or racial problem should be involved and no religious belief should be preached.
  4. Every video is required to contain at least one scientific knowledge point, and participants can introduce the scientific knowledge points in the “Video Description”.
  5. Requirements for videos: within 1-30 minutes at 720P or above and less than 2GB.
  6. The videos can be interpreted in their native language, but English is encouraged. Domestic videos are encouraged to be subtitled in English and international videos are required to be subtitled in English.

You also need to know

  1. Default copyright statement: Participating groups or individuals reserve the right of authorship and the host and creators share the rights of exhibition, duplication, translation, projection and dissemination jointly.
  2. All works for the award evaluation should be attached with a self-commitment letter of the scientifically uploaded together with the video. And if there are recommendation letters from experts, the works will be reviewed and evaluated in priority.
  3. There will be three rounds for the evaluation of this activity: preliminary evaluation, re-evaluation and final evaluation, which will be made by domestic and foreign experts. The awards list is expected to be announced in November of 2022.
  4. The host reserves the right of final interpretation of the competition. All matters not mentioned will be further notified.
