Why AI Explorers Camp?

As per research by the World Economic Forum, more than 65% of children currently learning at the primary level will have completely new jobs that don’t even exist yet. We have entered the era of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced robotics. Whether it be face recognition, medical report assessment, or self-driving cars, the use of AI is becoming significant in every aspect of life.

What AI Explorers Camp?

To prepare for future technology, PSC is bringing you an interesting and advanced learning program in this summer camp to understand and explore the concepts of AI, its fundamental components, practical implementations, and how it can be used in various sectors of life. The program also aims to demystify the myths and misconceptions about AI and its applications.

How?

  • The camp will last 5 days, starting with fundamental concepts and progressively advancing to AI model training.
  • Each session will be 90 minutes.
  • Participants will work on different AI model training platforms with simple coding and data preparation.
  • Hands-on activities will help understand the working of AI models.

Who?

  • Children aged 10 and above can participate.

Requirements

  • A laptop or chrome book
  • An active email ID will be required to register for different AI platforms.

Schedule

  • Age Group: 10+
  • Fee: Rs 4000
  • Timings: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Sessions: 5 (Mon to Fri)
  •  July 8 to July 12

  • Zaman Town, Korangi, Karachi

Day 1: Introduction, Expectations, and General Concepts

  • What is AI?
  • Difference between machines and robots.
  • What are agents and technology agents?
  • Myths and facts about AI with activities and discussions.

Starting with the camp, participants will dive into the entrancing universe of Artificial Intelligence. During Day 1, young campers will understand what AI is and how it differs from machines and robots. We will also learn how technology agents or robots can be modified with AI to perform complex tasks independently. Throughout the day, we’ll dispel myths about AI and uncover realities through interactive exercises and engaging discussions.

Day 2: Basic Components of AI

  • Data and its importance.
  • Data-related activities.
  • Neural networks to classify information.
  • Data exploration, mobile data activity, big data storage, data processing, and data gathering.

On the second day, we’ll start by exploring the basic components of AI, including machine learning and neural networks, with some fun activities to gain a deeper understanding of different types of data, its processing techniques, and the importance of data gathering. Next, we’ll learn about data usage and engage in activities to understand how data is collected and processed.

Day 3: Model Making with Machine Learning for Kids

  • Basic Image Classification Model Making with Machine Learning for Kids.

This day is dedicated to creating a basic image classification model with machine learning for kids. Kids will explore how machines can learn from data and make predictions through it. The hands-on experience will make the concept of AI easy to understand and demonstrate how it empowers many of the technologies we use every day.

Day 4: Game Making with ML4K

  • Creating interactive games using simple machine learning concepts.

After training an AI model, participants will have the opportunity to create their own interactive games using simple machine learning concepts. This hands-on activity will let the campers explore the fun side of AI, inspiring them to think creatively and enjoy seeing their ideas come to life while making intelligent choices.

Day 5: Advanced Model Making with Google Teachable Machines

  • Training a model to recognize images, sounds, or poses and integrating it into interactive projects.

The last session focuses on advanced AI model making with Google Teachable Machines. Students will explore the process of training a model to recognize images, sounds, or poses and integrate it into interactive projects. This will enhance their deeper understanding of AI and demonstrate how to create more complex models that can solve real-world problems.
