Highlights of Islamabad STEM Camp 3.0 Organized by Pakistan Science Club, ECO Science Foundation, and Allama Iqbal Open University.

The Pakistan Science Club (PSC), in collaboration with the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), hosted a 5 days-long STEM science camp in Islamabad. The primary objective of the camp was to provide a dynamic and interactive learning experience for participants, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Volunteer Training Workshop

Prior to the camp’s start, a volunteer training session was organized to train volunteers on how they would assist organizers during the camp.

Day 1: Introduction of No Code Bot

The camp begins with an introduction to robotics, where participants learn about the basics of robotics technology. They learned about the integration of electronics and mechanics that bring robots to life. The day focused on understanding robotic hardware and principles of design, laying a strong foundation.

Day 2: Electronics 

On second day participants immersed themselves in the world of electronics, exploring circuit design, sensors, and modules. Through hands-on activities, they gained practical insights into how circuits power robotics and learned essential concepts in electronics.

Day 3: Draw the Code

Building upon their knowledge of hardware and electronics, participants transitioned into the realm of coding without computers. They engaged in mind-mapping and paper coding exercises to translate ideas into executable instructions. Concepts such as loops, conditional statements, and the basics of coding were covered, emphasizing their application in robotic functions.

Day 4: Surprise Task 

On 4th day participants faced an exciting challenge designed to test their newly acquired skills in creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. This task encouraged them to apply their knowledge under pressure, fostering resilience and innovation.

Day 5: Astronomy Event 

The camp concluded with an astronomy event. Guided by experts, participants explored the night sky using highly magnified telescopes. They identified constellations, planets, and stars, gaining a deeper understanding of the universe’s wonder.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony

The final day of the Islamabad Hands-on Science Camp 2023 concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. Every participant was recognized for their active engagement and dedication throughout the five-day camp. Participants received a certificate of participation jointly issued by the Pakistan Science Club, ECO Science Foundation, and Allama Iqbal Open University. This recognition highlighted their dedication to STEM learning and their successful completion of the camp’s objectives.

The STEM science camp organized by PSC, ECOSF, and AIOU proved to be a resounding success in promoting STEM education among youth in Pakistan.
