Challenge: Tall Tower

We’re thrilled to introduce our latest challenge: the Tall Tower challenge! This is your chance to unleash your creativity and engineering skills by constructing the tallest tower possible using a limited set of materials.

Challenge Objective:

Your task is to build a tower using only 100 straws, along with tape, a glue gun, and pins (don’t forget those safety precautions!). But wait, there’s a twist! Your tower must not only stand tall but also possess the strength to hold a weight of 200 grams.

Material:

  • Straws (not more than 100)
  • Glue gun.
  • Tape
  • Pins
  • Disposable cup on top to hold weight.

Key Criteria:

Judging will be based on three main factors: the design of your tower, its height, and most importantly, its ability to hold the weight test. So, get creative with your design while ensuring it’s both tall and sturdy.

Guidelines:

You’ll have a 15-days to work on your towers, giving you ample time to experiment, refine, and perfect your creations. Good luck to all participants.

How to Make a video for this challenge?

  • Make a video that’s 2 to 4 minutes long (but not more than 4 minutes).
  • Start by introducing yourself. Say your name and a bit about yourself.
  • Next, talk about your project. Explain what it is and why you made it.
  • Show your tower in its full design. Measure its height in the video, Place a weight on the top of your tower to demonstrate its strength. Make sure to capture this moment on video so viewers can see how well your tower holds up
  • Then, explain how you put it all together. Tell us the steps you took.
  • Lastly, discuss the scientific principles behind your tower’s design and construction. Share what you’ve learned from the challenge and how you applied scientific concepts to make your tower strong and tall.
  • You can use any video editing application like Cap Cut, etc., for the video-making process.

How to write a document?
