Islamabad STEM Camp 4.0: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

The Pakistan Science Club (PSC), in collaboration with the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), successfully organized a five-day STEM Summer Camp in Islamabad under the theme “Innovate for Impact – Solving Real World Problems.” The camp was conducted from 29th July to 2nd August 2025 at the main campus of Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad.

The five-day hands-on learning camp brought together more than 130 children and teens aged 7 to 16, aiming to nurture scientific curiosity and problem-solving skills through real-world challenges and interactive projects.

The program was designed to address the growing need for experiential STEM learning in Pakistan and to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and scientists.

Volunteer Training Workshop

Before the camp began, a volunteer training session was conducted. Volunteers were equipped with the necessary skills, responsibilities, and safety protocols to support instructors and participants. Their contribution was instrumental in ensuring the camp’s smooth execution and overall success.

Camp Activities Overview

A specially designed, playful and educational program for younger participants:

Day 1 – Robotics Day:

Participants built their own Bunny Bots using motors, learned the basics of motion and robotics in a fun, creative environment.

Day 2 – Biology Day:

Participants created Bug Catchers and explored the local insects. They studied specimens under microscopes and learned about habitats and biodiversity.

Day 3 – Physics Days:

Campers built Elastic Coasters and explored energy and motion through hands-on project.

Day 4 –Chemistry Day:

Young scientists designed and launched rockets powered by chemical reaction, exploring the fundamentals of chemistry and gas pressure.

Group 2: Future Innovators (Ages 11–16)

This program focused on engineering design and innovation through daily challenges based on real-world problems:

Day 1 – Water Pump Challenge:

Campers designed systems to use playground equipment for powering a water pump to revive a dried-up park.

Day 2 –   Wind-Powered Vehicle Challenge:

Innovators designed vehicles that could move using only wind energy, testing creativity and mechanical design skills. .

Day 3 – Solar Innovation Task:

Participants created sustainable lighting prototypes using solar power for off-grid communities.

Day 4 –Emergency Delivery Mission:

Teams developed low-tech solutions to deliver aid across a destroyed bridge in disaster conditions.

Day 5- Fun Science Show and Certificate Distribution Ceremony

Camp ended with fun science show and certificate distribution ceremony for both groups.

Fun science show was Led by Abdul Rauf Founder and President of Pakistan Science Club, the show was a resounding success, leaving the audience in awe and excitement.

Fun Science Show

From mind-boggling experiments to jaw-dropping demonstrations, the event was a celebration of the marvels of scientific exploration.

The reaction from the participants and parents was overwhelmingly positive. Their eyes sparkled with curiosity and wonder as they witnessed the magic of science unfold before them.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony

The final day of the camp ended with a certificate distribution ceremony. Every participant was recognized for their active engagement and dedication throughout the five-day camp. Participants received a certificate of participation jointly issued by the Pakistan Science Club, ECO Science Foundation, and Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. This recognition highlighted their dedication to STEM learning and their successful completion of the camp’s objectives. This camp not only provided valuable learning experiences but also inspired participants to pursue further exploration in STEM fields, contributing to the future of science and technology in Pakistan.

Acknowledgment & Appreciation
