Solar powered car

Introduction Solar powered car

The project focuses on the concept of renewable energy, its sources, various types, uses and applications in everyday life. The hands-on activity helps the students to decipher the elementary concept of solar energy, its advantages and the conversion of it into mechanical energy to dive a car. Students will make their own solar powered car to understand the making of a vehicle by household material and working of solar panel to power it.

Learning outcomes according to national curriculum of general science

  • Preliminary concepts about renewable energy sources, their importance and application.
  • Fundamentals that how solar energy is converted into electrical energy and then into mechanical energy to drive a car.
  • The activity will also be helpful to understand the laws involved in electricity generation and energy conversion from one form to another form.

Electromagnet

Electromagnet Workshop Overview

The activity helps in understanding about magnetism and electromagnetism and how they are related with each other. It is an interesting hands-on project that is capable of explaining basic phenomenon of magnetism, types of magnets and how they are made. Children make their own electromagnet by using iron nail, copper wire, and battery cell and also learn about the practical implementations of various types of magnets.

Wind Turbine

Introduction

The activity addresses the fundamentals of renewable energy, its types, importance, uses and applications in various aspects of life. The making of wind turbine is an excellent hands-on practical example for the students to understand the conversion of renewable energy resources into other forms of energy such as mechanical, electrical etc. students will make their own mini wind turbine using simple household material like cardboard, disposable cups, paper tape etc.

Tesla Coil

Tesla Coil Workshop

Introduction


It is an interesting and worth learning activity that helps students to decipher the basic concepts about electric and magnetic field. It also develops the fundamental learning of laws, working principle and properties of electromagnetism and magnetic induction. Students will also get an overview of basic electronics as well in this workshop and will be guided to make a simple tesla coil by using an easy circuit.

Periscope

 

The activity focuses on the fundamentals of optics and light, its properties and phenomenon to develop an understanding of reflection its laws and its types. Periscope making also defines the importance of angles in reflection of light. Students will be guided to make a periscope with simple material like cardboard, mirrors and hot glue.

Bridge Building

The activity develops the concept of load distribution through effective design and structure of the bridge. A team of students will be provided with a packet of Popsicle sticks and hot glue to design and construct the bridge that deciphers the basic understanding of structure making and the geometry involved in it.

Introduction Balloon Air Powered Car

The activity entitled as Balloon/Air powered car enables the students to learn about energy, its types and its conversion from one form to another form. It also helps them to understand about basic vehicle design, its working and how air pressure can be used as fuel. Students are guided to make their own vehicles by using simple household material following the easy steps which always been an excited and worth learning hands-on experience for them.
