Electromagnet Workshop Overview

The activity helps in understanding about magnetism and electromagnetism and how they are related with each other. It is an interesting hands-on project that is capable of explaining basic phenomenon of magnetism, types of magnets and how they are made. Children make their own electromagnet by using iron nail, copper wire, and battery cell and also learn about the practical implementations of various types of magnets.

Learning outcomes according to national curriculum of general science

  • Understanding about magnetism, electromagnetism and its types.
  • Demonstrates the construction and working of different types of magnets.
  • Students will learn about the practical application of different types of magnets in various appliances and in industries.
