Hydraulic lift

The target of the activity is to decipher the basic concepts of pressure, simple machines and hydraulics. The project is one of the best combinations of mechanics and Pascal’s law that can used for the demonstration of pressure transmission, application of simple machines and hydraulics in various aspects of life. The students will understand the fundamentals by making a simple hydraulic lift using syringe, syringe pipes and Popsicle sticks.

Learning outcomes according to national curriculum of general science


  • The project will help the students to learn about the basic concepts of forces, pressure and simple machines.
  • Describes the fundamentals of Pascal’s law, its importance and applications.
  • Understanding about the working and uses of the simple machines in combination to the basic principles of physics.
