class=\"_Tgc\"><strong>Electrolysis of water<\/strong> is the decomposition of <strong>water<\/strong> (H<sub>2<\/sub>O) into oxygen (O<sub>2<\/sub>) and hydrogen gas (H<sub>2<\/sub>) due to an electric current being passed through the <strong>water<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"itemFullText\">\u00a0 Material &amp; Tools for electrolysis of water experiment<\/p>\n<p>20ml Plastic syringe,10mL Plastic syringe (2),Infusion tube, Empty plastic Bottle, Connecting \u00a0Wire, Super Glue, Colored NaOH Solution,8cm long Nail(2),Yogurt Container ,Cutter Knife, Plastic Straw,9VBattery,Paper Clip(2),Spirit Lamp, Match Box, Permanent Marker<\/p>\n<h3>Procedure<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut plastic bottle to make a beaker using a cutter.<\/li>\n<li>Make two points at the bottom of the beaker using a permanent marker.<\/li>\n<li>Heat two nails and insert them on the marked points of the beaker.<\/li>\n<li>Put the Glue around the nail from outside of the beaker to avoid leakage.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the nozzle of each 10ml syringe using the Cutter.<\/li>\n<li>Join two 10ml stringer by heating their brims.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the infusion tube into two pieces of 10cm length.<\/li>\n<li>Attach a tube on the top of each syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Cut two squares on the opposite sides of the container to make a stand for the electrolytic beaker.<\/li>\n<li>Put the electrolytic beaker into the beaker stand.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the colored NaOH solution in the electrolytic beaker on the stand.<\/li>\n<li>Fill each Syringe with the NaOH solution by sucking through 20ml syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Pitch the tube using a paper clip<\/li>\n<li>Attach red and black crocodile clip to the nail electrodes.<\/li>\n<li>Attach the other ends of crocodile clip to the 9v battery.<\/li>\n<li>Electrolysis of water has started!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Observe the volume of the gas in each syringe!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collect the gas in the syringe acting as cathode, using 20ml syringe and put it in a test tube.<\/li>\n<li>Suck the gas in the syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the gas into a test tube carefully.<\/li>\n<li>Popping sound of hydrogen Gas is
