Invisible Glass Stirrer Experiment

Invisible Glass Stirrer Experiment

Material

  • Glass stirrer
    Beaker
    Glycerine

Procedure

Pour Glycerine into the Beaker and then immerse the Glass stirrer the Beaker.

What Happens

The Glass stirrer looks like a ghost like object in the container, almost invisible.

Explanation

The real secret behind this science experiment is the index of refraction. When light travels through the glass, and then through the Glycine, the speed of light slows down and then it hits the glass and refracts or reflects and this is why the glass stirrer looks invisible.

TRY THIS

Do this experiment with glasses of different shapes and sizes to see what kind of an effect it has on them. You will find that not all glasses have the ability to vanish.
